Denver Indian Center Inc.

Serving the Crossroads of Indian Country

Denver is often referred to as one of the key urban “Crossroads of Indian Country”—a central hub where Native people from hundreds of tribal nations come together. Whether through relocation, education, employment, or family connections, generations of Native individuals have made Denver their home, creating a vibrant, intertribal community grounded in resilience and cultural pride.

“I recently got a new position as a heritage interpreter at the Cache La Poudre National Heritage Area in Fort Collins/Windsor, Colorado. I start next week and need to ask for gas assistance for this month of January, if possible, as well as if I could please order some work clothes and other items needed for this position. Please let me know if I can fill out a new request and send that in. I am attaching here my new job offer letter and it includes details of my position. I currently do not have proper business casual attire to perform some of the community meetings and outreach duties. I also wanted to share that I got this amazing opportunity because of my trip to Montana that you all helped me attend when I presented at the Montana History Conference this fall. I met the director of this organization there and she expressed the desire to connect further, and we both were surprised to learn we were based out of Fort Collins, CO! So, I just want to say, "Thank You Denver Indian Center"! you all have helped me so much.” Native Workforce Program Participant - Delilah Lopez

Empowering American Indian youth, elders, families, and the broader community is a vital mission that hinges on promoting self-determination and well-being across various dimensions. By prioritizing education, we can equip young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate and thrive in an increasingly complex world, while also preserving the rich cultural heritage that defines their identity. Advocacy plays a crucial role in amplifying their voices, ensuring that their rights and needs are acknowledged and addressed at both local and national levels. Fostering economic health involves creating opportunities for sustainable development and entrepreneurship, which can lead to greater financial independence and security. Meanwhile, focusing on mental and physical health is essential for building resilient communities, capable of facing the challenges of today and tomorrow. Cultural enrichment ties all these efforts together, as it nurtures a sense of pride and belonging, empowering individuals to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through these combined efforts, American Indian communities can achieve a future that honors their past while embracing new possibilities.

What Our Clients Say

"I came to the Indian Center with nothing. I was new to Denver. I didn't know where to go…Now, I am enrolled in programs at the Indian Center and have felt so much support from their staff. I am about to finish training on my new job that I got after participating in the workforce program and I am about halfway through with the Fatherhood program's classes. I see the day that I came to the Indian Center as a big turning point in my life in Denver. I am so grateful for everything …"
